So I got this review on my yelp business page and since this guy felt like airing out all my personal information and even went so far as posting this blog and my other blog information, thought I’d break it down here as today’s musing
Before you hand over your financial documents to a complete stranger, you need to do your homework and research the person. Julie Wiggins writes blogs about herself and muses about her mental and physical problems on the Internet. You can read all about Julie Wiggins at http://Sexymagick.com,http://ElementsWrite.com and Julie’s Accutane Journal. Julie claims to be suffering from a bipolar disorder. Julie muses on her blogs about her severe acne, morbid obesity, eczema and psoriasis as well. Julie Wiggins is not a certified public accountant and she has no portfolio listing her current clients so caveat emptor, let the buyer beware. There are plenty of great CPA’S and financial planners in the yellow pages. Check to make sure that they graduated from a reputable college or university and avoid accountants that have online degrees. Would you get surgery from a doctor that got their medical degree online? I think not! .
I’ve asked Yelp to pull it down but I doubt they will, its a personal attack on me and not relevant to my business at all. Anywho…….. I’ve never heard of this guy, I don’t have a client with that name nor have I ever had a client with that name.
Yes, you should do your homework before you hand over your financial information to a complete stranger. But let’s get something straight on that front, 99% of my business is word of mouth, people have been referred from someone to me. If you’re not the right fit for my business such as this guy, I won’t take you on as a client.
Yes, I write about lots of things, I’m not hiding who I am. People don’t talk about this things such as being bipolar or having psoriasis because of the social stigma of those things but hell, I think its time we talked about those things out in the open however its not relevant to my business or how good I am at my job.
Although weird, I never talked about being morbidly obese, I might have said something about it as note worthy discussion.
And I had one person along time ago attack me on the my first blog about my accutane journal which I thought was all behind me, I wonder if this is the same guy. That guy personally attacked me because his first name with initial showed up on my comments, apparently his name had been hijacked, I removed the comments but he kept coming back and personally attacking me. Unfortunately I can’t take down the accutane journal, I first used Radio Weblogs as my blogging platform and that site has been archived for historical preservation of Radio Weblogs, I’ve asked they take down my site but its up there permanently (info can be found here about it).
But I digress…
True, I don’t currently have a portfolio list of clients on my business website but its a work in progress. Seriously, how many accounting and CPA firms website have you been too, that have a client list on their site, not many. If someone wants a referral, all they need to do is email me and I’ll send you a list. I don’t give out my client names unless I’ve cleared it with them, they deserve privacy too.
True, I don’t have a CPA license and I never said I did but do you know that studying for it – is sooooooooo boring. I’d rather spend my time working on my clients accounts. Did you know that I have the same exact requirements that a CPA must have to do tax returns as a registered tax preparer: individuals are required to demonstrate their knowledge and competence of ethics and accounting, meeting high educational standards and completing a specified amount of general accounting experience, that specific amount is only two years of general accounting experience – read that again, 2 years! I have over 20 years of experience. CPA must complete a min of 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years. Registered tax preparers before the IRS was stopped, had to take 20 hours every year, that’s double what a CPA has to do. Think about it.
I did graduate from a reputable college, two in fact. I have a degree in Linguistics and a Master in Science for Accountancy. Maybe I should put my resume back on my business site. But me thinks, that this guy didn’t bother to check out my business sites, he just went after a personal attack on my personal sites.
True, there are plenty of great CPAs and Accountants out there and I might even refer you to one or two depending on your needs and if I’m not available.
Seriously, the yellow pages? Who uses the yellow pages anymore?
Moral of today’s musing: there are ugly people out there who know nothing about you as a person. I blog, I’ve been blogging for over 15 years, there is a lot of information about me on the internet. If you dig, sure you can find all about me. I’m not hiding. However, attacking me personally on my business listing is ugly and not relevant to my business or my job.
But thank you, you got my attention and got me writing again on my personal blog!
